Welcome To Alice's Homepage
Here are some tidbits of my life , my passion of art and travel
Hello Everyone
My name is Alice Zaharian, for those of you who don't know what my background is, from my last name, well here it is; My heritage and cultural background is Armenian. I do speak it a little bit and also some Romanian, because I learned it at home from my parents and relatives. Anyhow, I am an artist trying to start my own little business online thru my website, selling the art that I make. As you will see throughout the website I will have pictures of my artwork as well as my pics from Hawaii when was working on the Norwegian Cruise Line for 6 months. I am a self taught in this field although I have taken some classes, but it didnt really inspire me for what I do now. I design greeting cards, and wire wrapped jewelry. As you will see my style is very colorful, playful and whimsical, that was inspired from places where I have traveled. I also come up with 2 dimensional collage works that first start out as a painting, but I finish it off with bits and pieces of paper or recylcled material. I get most of my inspirations in the middle of the night, and I usually finish it off before the morning sun comes thru the windows. I also dabble a bit with knitting, pillow case designs from linen napkins i find for sale and I sew them together and embellish them with buttons or yarn around the edges. I also write some poetry just when a certain rambling of nice words that come in my head at times, and i quickly write them down so i dont forget it. I will write some of the poems on another page.
My business and websites name is One Of A Kind Treasures , because I dont copy or make identical cards or jewelry or collages, what you see is the one and only and if you like it you snag it for there wont be another like it. I think its a great marketing strategy. I am self promoting myself so I can get my name and work out there for people to see that I am a real artist and would LOVE to be recognized and have a gallery call me to display my work in their gallery and have a party for me. I don't want to be hidden or as I would call it a closet artist.
I have tried many different places to try and sell my art, but store owners can be quite discriminating, so I gave up trying , but then I started again and I have found 3 places where they really love and enjoy my style of work, and they are selling very well.
One of the first locations I sold some of my jewelry designs was at a little boutique in Harvard Square, but no longer there, anymore, but I did sell my goods, and I was happy, but I wouldn't exactly give up my day job for it. My next vending place was and still is in Woodstock, Vermont at a store called Krystynas Silver, where my assortment of greeting cards are a hit, I can't make up enough to keep up with the demand. My second location I found just last year, in the North End location of Boston on Prince Street called Artmosphere. I sell both greeting cards as well as my wire jewelry designs there. The owner loves my style and keeps asking for more. My 3rd location I sell in is on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, where I sell my photographs of Hawaii on greeting card stock and also my jewelry designs are also a hit there.
For right now I am trying to get my website on its way so that I can introduce myself to the different art galleries and to other artists, willing, open and ready to get some feedback from other professionals, as well as for those of you who aren't artists but who enjoy and appreciate unique art for that I believe I am unique and one in a million.
I will try to keep updating my website if anything new is happening, meanwhile enjoy the website I have created all by myself, and if you like anything that I have designed and created, by all means contact me by email, or by phone, if you are interested in a certain piece.
Oh yeah by the way most of my artwork is right now on display at Learning Links on Hancock Street in Quincy, Massachusetts, it has been there for about 1 year now, and now its time to sell and make some Dinero OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot to mention that I received an Honorable Mention from The Quincy Art Association last April in the contest that I entered, that was really nice, but want first prize next time.
My next venture is to try to get a show or my art displayed at 2 different galleries, and I am possibly in line to get my art displayed at The Thomas Crane library in Quincy, MA. This is truly alot of work, but I hope that I can manage to get myself out there one way or another. Pray for me and wish me lots of luck.
